The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is an important federal law governing the use of backgrounds, which are also known as "consumer reports". The FCRA specifies what uses are permissible, and further requires requestors of consumer reports to specify the permissible purpose under which they are requesting the report.

We make it easy to select one of two permissible purposes.
- Choose "Employment-General Employment Screening" if you are an employer screening employees or prospective employees for general purposes.
- Choose "Employment -Commercial Drivers-DOT/Safety" if you are an employer screening employees or prospective employees specifically for a Commercial Motor Vehicle driving position.
- Choose "Other Purpose" if you are verifying or requesting background information for any other purpose, and have the express written permission/instructions of the person. (You should discuss your specific needs with us before selecting this option.)
